Homeopathy for arthritis

Bonjour and Thank you for stopping by!

Homeopathy for Arthritis Relief

Recently my mother was diagnosed with arthritis.  Listening to her pain, I looked into whether homeopathy could help her pain.  Arthritis affects the joints and causes intense pain, which homeopathy addresses based on the conditions of its onset and progression. A long-term treatment may also be prescribed by a homeopathic doctor.

Arthritis is a condition affecting the joints and is a common disease that is neither caused by an infection nor by inflammation (although some have an inflammatory component); rather, it results from the degeneration of cartilage. It primarily affects the cervical spine, the lumbar spine, and the hands. Equally common, arthritis of the hip and knee can be particularly disabling.

It affects approximately 53 million U.S. adults according to the CDC (not just the elderly). It progresses over the years, at a varying pace depending on the individual.

Homeopathic Solutions for Arthritic Pain

Arthritis presents as stiffness and varying levels of pain in the joints, which can sometimes be unbearable. These pains tend to intensify at the end of the day and are often worse in individuals who do not engage in regular physical activity.   Understanding the triggers of your pain can help identify the appropriate remedy.  Homeopathic remedies for arthritis pain are tailored to the individual’s progression of the condition, here are some remedies to consider:

Rhus toxicodendron:  If the pain worsens with humidity and cold but decreases with movement. This is the "stiffness" pain; the first steps are very painful, but the pain lessens as you walk.

Bryonia alba:  When even slight movement triggers severe pain, the joint is swollen, and relief is provided by compression with bandages and rest.

Causticum:  When the pain improves in humid weather.

Medorrhinum: When there is improvement in humid weather and localized arthritis in the knees, hips, and shoulders.

Dulcamara: When the pain is aggravated by rainy weather.

Natrum sulfuricum: For lumbar arthritis, knees, or hips, with high-intensity pain in humid weather. Often, the pain appears before a change in the weather.

Kalium iodatum: When the joint is swollen, the worst pain occurs at night, and you need to move to relieve it.

Radium bromatum: for lumbar and knee arthritis, where the pain is not influenced by the weather and is relieved by movement and stretching.

Ledum palustre: When the joint is cold, swollen, and the pain decreases with cold.

Formica rufa: This is for very specific symptoms - to be taken if the pain appears before the weather changes to snow.

Long-term Treatments for Arthritis and when to consult a Homeopath.

While arthritis can impact various joints, its onset is influenced by factors such as age, heredity, and excess weight. By examining your family history and considering not only your symptoms but also the progression of the disease and your unique profile, a homeopath can prescribe a comprehensive and personalized homeopathic treatment, along with recommended lifestyle changes. Therefore, a consultation is beneficial in every case.
