Bonjour and merci for stopping by!
As a beginner in homeopathy, it can be challenging to confidently prescribe the right remedy, especially under pressure. However, there are some fundamental principles that can simplify the process and guide you. So what essential information do you need when prescribing an acute homeopathic remedy? How do you narrow down the symptoms to select the right one?
I always tell my clients that no one is better equipped than them to treat themselves or their children with an acute illness. And with a little practice, it will become easier, and they will feel more confident and empowered to use homeopathy for common acute conditions.
Common acute complaints include coughs, colds, bumps, bruises, sore throats, stomach upsets, bites, stings, fevers, etc. To quickly find an effective remedy, write the word CLAMS vertically on a piece of paper and fill it in. This will help you identify the best match. CLAMS stands for:
C: Concomitant - A symptom that accompanies the primary complaint.
L : Location - Location of the pain or symptom within the body
A : Aetiology - The potential cause of the complaint.
M : Modalities - What alleviates or worsens the complaint.
S : Sensation - What does the pain feel like?
Then, simply rank the symptoms by importance - identify the most important ones, such as the strongest symptoms. Note any striking or unusual symptoms and place them high on the list. Your chosen remedy should address these key symptoms.
If the correct remedy is chosen, it should work quickly in an acute situation. If there’s no response after 24-48 hours, consider trying a different remedy or consult a professional homeopath.
If you've tried two remedies without improvement, if you're having difficulty finding the right remedy for an acute condition, if symptoms persist for more than three weeks after an acute illness, or if home prescribing isn’t helping and symptoms are worsening, I strongly recommend seeking the assistance of a professional homeopath to assist in finding the proper treatment to alleviate the immediate problem, but also to address the the underlying causes.
Additionally, if the symptoms are concerning and getting worse, it’s important to consult your healthcare provider.
A votre Santé!
